Alright so the supra was running fine and then nadda, it wouldnt start. I think its because the fuel pump has taken a crap. Ive checked all the fuses, changed the fuel filter, spark plugs (even pulled them individually and cranked the car to make sure they were firing) but still no start. I did notice that when I put the key into the on position I can no longer hear the fuel pump coming on. We tried injecting starter fluid in the motor and that got it to turn over, but die immediately. So I ordered a walbro to replace the stocker, any suggestions as to what else I should do while I have the tank dropped? I know some of the dsm boys do a fuel pump rewire, but have any of you guys performed this mod on your supra?

that was your imagination, you never could hear the fuel pump coming on with the key in the ON position but the engine not running, our cars dont work that way. the fuel pump will only pump when you actually start the car.

it is reccomended that you bypass the resistor when installing a walbro fuel pump in order to give it 12v constant.

its always a good idea to change out the fuel pump if yours has never been changed. however there are other things to check first, did the computer throw any error codes? i would have checked error codes before i did anything else.

no, no cel, no nothing. How long does the ECU store codes? And if they are stored is there some quick trick I can do to find out which ones are being triggered? In my eclipse I could just turn the key off and on, in a certain order for it to flash the codes. The other stuff just needed to be done anyway since I just got the car, (full tune-up) so I figured putting in a new fuel pump wouldnt hurt any.

lol, maybe it was my imagination, to be honest I never really listened that hard for it beforehand. And I will definitely remove that resistor during the install as well.

If you're replacing the fuel pump.
You might want to replace the fuel filter also.
Although I don't think its easier with the tank out.
Also, I'd replace it a tank full after you have the new pump in. That ways if there is any contaminates when you do the change, you won't clog up the new filter.

Just a thought

Can you elaborate? I just put mine in and didn't realize this was something you're supposed to do...

ok, on the passengers side of the engine bay right next to the shock tower you have a fuel pump relay, and a fuel pump resistor. the resistor is only TWO wires. unplug that connector, and connect those two wires together. tada! youre done.
