ok so today i changed the positive cable on my 87. pretty simple, put back, exactly where and what u pull off. i go to start the car and nothing happens. almost like the battery is dead, but it couldnt be because i started the car just fine when i went to buy the cable. could it be one of my fuses? or something worse?

check to make sure the starter solenoid wire is still plugged into it. also, check to make sure that you have the small blue wire connected to the battery that runs up under the fuse box.

Make sure you have soddered your ends to the contact connectors, so you can have good contact.

Did you happen to short to ground (even just a second) when you changed the cable?

it may have

flubyux2: the only other wire that was connected to the battery was a white wire, i dont see a blue one in there.

From past experince in the rain in the middle of the night.... there are 2 wires to the + side of the batt a large one and a small one. make sure that small one is there and proper... this is your problem... it goes into the fuse box andd supplies power to your accy. insluding the start and efi relays. no power no start but good batt. voltage.

My brother did that, and he fried something in the ECU... we took it out, got one from the junkyard and soldered the new one in, and the car fired right up.

Just my experience...
