i just changed my plugs and wires (autolite @ .030 & 7mm wires), put it all back together and now it starts up just fine and runs smooth until the wbO2 finishes counting down. AFRs hold @ 16.00 (wierd) and drop to normal operating range (14.5s) when i blip the throttle. after the idle settles back down again, AFRs go back to 16 and the car slowly dies out w/ an inconsistant idle.
i double checked gap and wires, everything checks out. please help!

-thanks

yup...checked all that as i was taking it apart, no vacuum leaks either. i noticed that the throttle arm(?) that connects to the cable assy has a very low tolerance to being re-positioned so maybe it just isn't holding it @ idle as the same place it was before.. know what i'm saying there? haha.

clean, just old...bosch platiunms, yuck. the diode was recessed into the plug a lil bit, that's all. werent black or gummy or anything. she seems to be running ok now after i tightened the throttle cable contraption down. she has a tiny hiccup here and there, the AFRs seem a little high yet (14.7 - mid 15s). idling steady @ 600-700 range. is that too low?

jdub, double checked the plugs, they are 5503s so everything should be good, thanks for the input!
everything seems to be ok now, other than running uber rich, but it has been like that since i got it. gonna tackle the injectors and fuel pump tomorrow i think. hope that will solve the "uber rich" issue.
Man, nothing went right today...cant even change a set of damn plugs without something going haywire. hope it all goes better later.
thanks again!

Check plug gaps? Ive seen many "pre-gapped" plugs with no gap at all. Simply dropping the plug box on the ground can close up the gaps.
