I just put the damn thing back together and cant seem to get it to start. I am about 90% sure i have everything back together :) I have a loose connection on a sensor that is located on the intake side of the block. Uses a green connector on a brown wire. Also there is 1 vacuum line that runs directly in the bottom middle of the intake manifold and I cant figure out where it goes. Any ideas? Is there a wiring harness diagram exploded engine view on the TSRM?

maybe i'm wrong, but aren't there vacuum lines under the intake manifold for the fuel pressure vsv? and without those connected, there wouldn't be any fuel pressure=no start??? Yes, pics are definitely needed...

toyotaxtremeteam: gte hg's are harder, because you have to deal with the turbo, and it is a pretty time consuming job that tries your patience. It took me about three weeks to get it done, but that was with some major setbacks (not supra related)... You most definitely have to have the head machined.

I know this isnt related to what you stated your problems are.. but MOST of the time when a car wont start after doing the head gasket, its because the CPS is improperly installed, or set.

If the vaccum lines were not hooked up to the fuel VSV, he would still have pressure.

Is this the same engnine as the other thread? You did not fix the problem and just assumed bhg? Or did you see something in the teardown?

I second that... and maybe check your cam gears to see that they line up at TDC

can it turn over but just not start?

make sure you installed the cps per tsrm

The problem in the teardown were stuck valves. The engine will start now but only for 2-5 seconds. It will start right up every time (CPS was off, thanks) but I cannot keep it running. Either its cutting fuel or cutting ignition. Unless its flooding out.

Oh man, i may have the timing off 180' How many damn marks are there on the crank pulley? I had everything lined up to what I thought was TDC and a mark aligned to "0" but I just turned the crank 180' and there are 2 more marks. one on the oter rim of the pulley and 1 on the inner.

you look throught he oil filler hole.. when you see the cam lobe sticking up.. turn it until its on 0', then re-insert the cps with the marks ligned up.. then set accordingly.

Which mark? there are 2 on the crank pulley 180' off from each other.

First off, it doesn't matter if you are out 180 degrees, our wasted spark system takes care of that.

Second, pull the #1 spark plug, drop a long, thin, screwdriver in there, rotate the crank by hand until the screwdriver is pushed as far out as it can get, then verify that the match marks on the cam gears line up with the notches in the timing plate cover, and the marks on the flywheel that match up with the timing marks are the ones you want.

Thats exactly what i did and found TDC. I assume at TDC the rotor btton needs to line up directly with #1 plug wire connector. I think i fouled all my plugs out so Im off to get half a dozen cheapies. thanks fo rthe help I will keep posting till its running.
