Doesn't work, PWNT! ;) I was thinking of changing mine to a brigher green. I've taken the gauges off before, so I know what the bulbs look like, but where can you get them at? They're quite unusual because they're screw in, butnot like a bulb. :aigo: It's like a small half turn and they're in.

i changed mine to red..... you need four 194 and one 74 to change the gauge color. blue looks ok but IMO red is a lot better choice ill take a pic of it tonight and see if my computer will let me post it. any auto parts store should sell them however the 74 is a BIOTCH to find in any color its easier to just paint it. flame all you want but it works

You know what I would love? Make the lights in the A/C controls an even brighter green. Would match my red/green flashy lights in the guage cluster.

mine are red led's. :) they look really good. i got them from www.superbrightleds.com . (the five-way LED's) very even light distribution.

HOWEVER, keep in mind that if you convert them to red, and you're pre '89, you won't be able to see the redline at night. (so switch out the gauges for '89+, or at least the tach).

doesn't really matter to me, as by mid summer, i'll have a custom defi gauge cluster, save for the speedo and tach. :)

Red is better than blue, unfortunately. I prefer the look of blue, but your eyes can focus easier on red.

Actually, red is no easier than blue for the eye to focus on. One takes longer for the eye to focus on (red) the other is more likely to overwhelm and fog the vision (blue). In both cases a brief period is required for the vision to, for lack of a better word, clarify.

Psychologically, blue is more likely to cause distraction and reduced reaction time (due to a general calming effect). Red more likely to cause irritability, tension and increased blood pressure (but, let's not forget alertness).

Green is actually the easiest and quickest for the human eye to see, recognise, and discerne. Yellow (not amber) is the closest follower.

In my blue car, I had blue gauges. It just matched better...

I've driven cars with red gauges. Didn't find it any different as far as focusing goes.

And so we should do our very own "Supramania Stroop Effect Test" sometime soon :biglaugh:

EDIT: Just searched for a while. Found a nice long thread (19 pages so far) on the LEDs for the CC. Now, I can't seem to find in it the damn size for the LED's for the CC (excluding the digital display). Anybody care to help me out on that one bit? Great time to test out the soldering iron I borrowed 3 weeks ago. In fact, CRE, it was a thread made by you on your blue lighting, including the digital display (very damn good work btw).

The CC's LEDs and those most of use in the accessory switches are 3mm.

As for the recognizability issues of various colors, I've rarely been in a situation where the color of the guages and the one second of adjustment time mattered one bit. This is all rather academic, I'm sure everyone here knows their car well enough to handle it just fine with any color of guage and cluster lighting.

Thanks for the size :). Been trying to search around the forum, but all I kept seeing was something about 154/74 (I don't know! I'm just guessing at my memory!).

Oh and btw, the thing with the colors is actually a psychological study.... just go have a  and ignore it :)
