I just thought it was interesting that we only use 25% of our engines potentail due to heat lost.

Yes I have learned the exact same thing as you here. We use I was thought 30% for power 30% going into the cooling system, 30% use goes out the exhaust and the other 10% was figured in, in the weight of the car.

Kind of sucks that " Air Pumps " or engines are not that efficient, but there are ways that are making these a lot more effective and work better.

For example keeping the intake valve still open when the pistons starts to come back up, this reduces pumping loses. Also as I saw below in a post Direct injection is very helpful, instead of having the fuel + air in the intake manifold then coming in.

A great idea that companies do use, many do not though, I think Spark index is a great idea, and you would only really need it if you had the EFI we have today, direct injection would have to be set at t a angle to work correctly, but I have seen most come from the top and the spark plug is tilted in the chamber.

Has anyone ever tried heat shielding or insulating the upper IC pipe? The IC pipe that comes out of the fender wall and over the turbo into the 3000 pipe (cold side). If you could keep the hoses and plastic from adsorbing all that heat it would keep the temperature of the air from rising after its been cooled by the Intercooler. I have the stock setup and the plastic pipe gets very warm to the touch.
Sure, this has been done... problem is, it's only really useful when you start the engine. Eventually the insulation gets heat soaked, and then it's keeping the pipe (and the air) hot instead of cold.

A better method is a front facing intake manifold, and scrap the whole crossover pipe idea.

You're kidding about the pink, right????
I rather doubt he's kidding. I've had to do some pretty stupid shit for crazy customers. I mean, seriously, when the stereo is so powerful that it will drain all 6 batteries in the car in under a minute... can you still call it portable when it needs a 220v outlet to actually keep it running?
