-ok so i used to throw code 71 and 34, EGR and boost cut, and the codes would store themselves and i would take off the neg battery cable to get rid of them. Well now they do not show up anymore and stay. The check engine light seems to come on and very random times, mostly from a stop when i start to accelerate(normal) but also sometimes while im just cruising, it will come on for like 4 seconds then just go away, so WTF gives?

-So i installed a SSQV and at first it was fine, now i notice when i give it a little throttle(not building boost) then let off quickly, it will want to die, or will die, now i know this is somewhat common, but can i fix the problem by attaching a hose to the 2 ports where the stock BOV was instead of just having them capped off like i do?

-Sure i could find it searching but while i have your attention. How long approximetly -assuming i have all tools needed and 3 people in a well lit home garage would it take to do a 5spd swap? 1 person is who i consult on all my Supra stuff 500+hp supra knows ALOT, 1 small kid good for the hard to reach places, and me just basic mechanical skills.

-Edit- Will the speedo cable for the auto work with the R154?

1. if your throwing a code just for a few seconds it could be a knock sensor or o2 sensor... i would double check those sensors.

2. on stock cars the bov is recirculated, because when the bov vents you are letting out air that the afm has already accounted for, causing you to go rich and your car to die, any car with an air flow meter and open vented bov will have this problem, learn to tap the gas or decel through gears.

3. The tranny job totally depends on you, your tools, if you have all the parts, etc. And TOOLS are the big one for this job. i could easily do it in half a day, but i have done it many times before. if your friend is the same you shouldn't have a problem. it really isn't that tough you just need to know what you are doing..... oh and visit the TSRM if its your first time it will be your bible.

good luck :)

any out of the ordinary tools that you can think of i will need, i basically just have the basics. And i should definetly have all the parts i've checked the list a million times and just helped my buddy pull his 7m and R154 and found a few more items. Mostly what im concerned about is how to get at the upper bellhousing bolts. There are some very generic 5spd swap guides out there but nothing in depth at all.

if your getting 34 you more than likely have a boost leak some where. check over your ic piping, wg hose etc and check for loose connections/holes in the pipes (the one right off the turbo tends to go the quickest, i put my thumbs though that one when i was tracking a boost leak on my bros car)

what version do you have of the ssqv? if there is an adjustment screw on the back you can mess with it some to tighten it up. however, the 7m ecu is a learning computer (starts out with a base map and builds off it by your driving style) next time you want to clear codes just pull the EFI fuse. your car will overcome its stalling issue over time.

the tranny swap has been done by alot of people and is pretty straight forward, just takes time and some experience (youll mess things up the first time and need to redo them thus prolonging things)

good luck man
