Hey everyone,

I just purchased a Greddy Catch can recently and I want to replace the hoses it came with with some better. I have been seeing alot of people with these solid blue hoses, but I dont know where you are getting them. Any ideas?

The solid blue hoses are probably the hose technique silicon hoses, but those hoses are usually vac only hoses cause silicon cant be used for some fluids.

Just go with ordinary heater hose.

If you mean solid blue like what Im running, they are Earls standard pushlock blue hose, -6, -10, and -12.

Yup those are the ones. I see you welded the fitting on to your valve covers. Do I have to do that also? Do the hoses come with the proper fittings?

You don't have to weld the fitting onto the valve covers... you can always drill out the steel nipples, and put bulkhead fittings in (one side is a AN fitting, and the other side is a nut).

The hose only comes by the foot, not with the fittings.

I didnt know it involved that much work. Hmm. The an fitting would connect to the hose and the nut to the valve cover?

ok I figured I would just buy the hose and a hose clamp and clamp it on to the nipples. One thing though, I hear that connecting to the intake pipe is not such a good idea. Is there a better idea? Also, how is AN measured? I was told by MK3Brent to get -8AN steel braided hose.

those fittings on the valve covers just pop out. then you could tap the valve covers for pipe thread. then use a pipe thread to AN fitting (i too recommend -8). just be sure you clean the hell out of the valve covers to get any metal shavings out.

not sure why someone would say connecting to the intake pipe isnt a good idea. it works far and away better hooked to the intake. that is what pulls the crankcase vapor out.

Ok, I checked summit for parts and found the pipe thread to AN fitting. I am guessing -8 AN for this too. How do I "tap" into the valve covers? I forget where I read it, but someone just pushed the fitting into the nipples.

I would like to do what you are saying, but I dont understand it. lol. Care to explain in toddler language? I am using Summit Racing as my comparison because they have everything.

sure thing.

use these to pull the fittings out of the valve covers.

now you just have an empty hole there. buy an adapter that is pipe thread on one end and -8 AN on the other.

then use the appropriate size tap for the pipe thread end and tap into the empty holes.

you will then end up w/ something like this :)

from there you just need female -8 AN hose end to thread onto the valve cover fittings. finally, you will need another -8 AN hose end to whatever threads you have on the catch can.

can you dig it?! (my best The Warriors impersonation here)

hope that helps

Damn thats alot of parts.... ok so let me just tally up a list so I can clear this up

6ft x SS Braided Lines (Lots of extra)
2 x Pipe Thread to -8 AN Fitting
2 x Female -8 AN Hose End

The Greddy catch can I have comes with those end cap clamps to connect to the catch can nipples. The thing is, I dont know if my catch can has a 3rd nipple to connect to the intake. I havent gotten it yet.

*EDIT*

I found out that the Greddy Catch Can does not have a 3rd port. How would I go about T-fitting the two hoses coming from one Catch can nipple?

you answered that one in your question get a T fitting from napa or wherever. run the two hoses from your valve covers into the T fitting and one hose from the third nipple on the T fitting to the catch can and then the 2nd nipple on the catch can the the intake

im shocked you didnt ask about which side of engine your car should be on... some say exhaust side some say intake manifold side... ive heard better things on the exhaust side..

I like to keep my car on both sides of the engine. From what I've gathered it's better for it to be on the intake side so oil can solidify and whatnot, the exhaust side would just keep it warm, free-flowing, and probably easier to suck back into the intake.

I put mine where the battery was on the cooler side. Problem is I have all this hose and it just looks cluttered. I'm probably going to get a FFIM so I can get rid of the IC pipes by the intake filter, and put my catch can there instead and run some stainless hose instead of that big freakin -10an oil rated blue lines that look like a garden hose.
