my friends ex-girl friend had an apexi for her honda civic si, it was full stainless, she said she paid 600 or so and a year later it was rusted all to hell. She was even more pissed as it developed a hole by the tail pipe. I believe she even bought another one cause she liked it so much

It depends on personal taste. You might want the classic "XKE" growl of an exhayst note,or you might want something loud enough to make you grit your teeth. Take a listen to other cars, and find one that you like. But once it gets the first weld, the desicion is set! Take your time and LISTEN,and get the one that you want to make your car stand out. I personally have a free flo cat going straight to a Magnaflo with 3" mandrel bent piping

Has anyone tried the Exhaust Depot system? I think that would sound good. N-1 can and a small, straight flowing resonator.
I was wondering the same thing because i am in the market for a cat back but i am torn between the tanabe and the E.D. system, i want quiet(well not to quiet) but i also want good flow.

I have the Tanabe system. It's a real Jeckyll and Hyde system IMO. It's quiet (close to stock I'd say) at idle and when you really punch it, it screams. It's not make your ears bleed loud, it just has a nice growl and let's people know you mean business.

The Power Extreme II sounds good, I believe it's made by HKS, only place I saw it to buy was on a site in all japanese and I could only make out the letters 7mgte LOL.
Greddy makes the Power Extreme system and I don't believe I've ever seen it available for the MKIII. There are more systems available in Japan sold under the Trust brand name (Greddy in America), so maybe that's what you're talking about.

Hey man, I'm from Canada too. I'm trying to figure out the exhaust system aswell. All those fancy exhaust systems seem like too much $$$ for me. I mean in the end, its just some metal pipes and a muffler... I would like to go the custom route, but I have no clue what muffler to get etc... Those cooleeze pipes are a good deal, BUT, when you add a muffler to the cost of those, your looking at a complete catback system for your car. Might aswell just buy one.

Not to hijack, but I'm looking for a good cat. I know Exhaust Depot has a direct fit one, but its expensive... Anyone have experience with a universal one etc?

No it doesn't. It's quiet at idle and in the low RPM's. Doesn't drone at all. It's great when cruising. I'll see if I can't get a camera that has good video and I'll record some sounds of it. Won't be till this weekend.

why run a cat? unless you get tested for emissions... i am just going to take my old cat and weld the shell around my 3 inch exhaust... it will pass my inspections cuz they just do a visual inspection make sure you have one
