I Have been constantly looking for a nice and clean new pair of side moldings for my 87. I dont want to get just any old set, becaue I really like how the grey side moldings offset my white car. I have been looking at getting a new cf hood as well, and am really just wondering if anybody knows if they even make cf side moldings. If so, where and for how much could I get them?

Thanks in advance

nope, they dont..

and it may never happen, as there are just too many mounts, and the gromets for pre 89's are different from 89+'s..

also the trim is different between both models, and the 89+ tails that most folks swap to have trim that isn't removable, so that's an issue..

with that said, i'd love CF trim..

what was it that Grant (oneandgone) had on his car. I know they were blue. but I thought they were Carbon as well.

Oh, what do I know, I wasn't ever looking at the moldings too much. I liked his hood ornaments.

You are referring to Grant's car. He had stock moldings that were modified and then had airbrushing on them.

Yes, the hood "ornaments" were nice. :)

I saw a company who was advertising them the other day as the only company who made carbon fiber moldings for the supra but unfortunately they only make them for the mkiv...

mkiv's don't have side moldings, so how is that possible..?

idk I didn't look into it past when I saw it was only for the mkiv. And I can't seem to find the website again, I just happened across it I wasn't looking specifically for them although it would be pretty cool.

I have been working on making some for about a month now. I am still in the underfunded overworked category so it will take me a bit to get them done.

It would look cool, but would be a lot of additional money for no additional funcionality.

Like damn near all body mods are, stuff like that boils down to individualization more so than functionality.

I like the look of the pre-89 moldings, but that damn metal strip inside ruin's everything (like the piece on my drivers door or my rear quarter panel). You could always swap on a set of 89+ moldings and then shave off the part that sticks out and then paint them. That's what I'm going to do.

It took a long time to find rust free pre-89 trim for me.
