have to jump in here.

The CF drive shaft that 1500Hp henessey viper uses is no where near the stock thickness. The only reason I know this is that Titan motor sports also runs one and they had to TRIPLE the CF thickness for the CF DS to survive.

Myself along with Duane have had a CF driveshaft for qutie some time.

Stock thickness?? Of couse the carbon shaft wall is thicker than the wall of a stock driveshaft.:icon_bigg

I know you and duane have one, that is why I said this driveshaft is nothing new. :biglaugh:

Doward - I don't have an answer for the critical speed. No data I know of exist to suggest what the critical speed maybe. All I can tell you is the driveshaft is 3" in diameter.

The aluminum shaft is more expensive than most others. it is into the 400's.

PM me for a price...I don't like going into too much detail about prices and selling things in open forum.

pointless in a DS when the diameter of the DS is about 10% of what the flywheel is.

It was a faulty one though Ian ;)

Never a problem with the new one and I have much more power.

Duane

Out of curiosity Duane, how do you detect a faulty CF drive shaft, other than the usual "it has a nick in it".

That is the problem with CF.

It has no give. Once it fails, you will have one clean street where your car passed ;)

Hey, but at least it's not a driveshaft through the floor or gouging the track...

On a high HP/Tq race car I'd run one, but as mine is driven daily, the chances for getting it nicked go waaaaay up...

Not a bad price though...

Well, you can use the method he did - turn it into a broom, then send it back and see what the manufacturer says. ;)

I sent it back and the manufacturer told me it was.

That made me laugh :biglaugh:

As for the guy saying that it would be good for a race car? Ask Dave, I drive my allot and have had this DS on my car since 04. If it breaks then so what, you by another one. 4 years on this is pretty good IMO.
