A couple weeks ago I bought a supra hat was in the process of a BHG repair(had intake and ezhaust on but not bolted down proper before his interest in fixing it ran out) I thnk I have it all back together now but when I try and start it all I get is a couple clicks from the ABS thing on the passenger side by the firewall and I can hear gas flowing a bit on the intake side but it does not crank there is no sound at all from the starter. I checked engine codes and at first had a code 22 but found the plug and fixed the wiring now I have no engine codes. Any ideas or suggestions as to what I might check would be greatly appreciated. Also I have 1 black plug similar to but a little smaller than the plug that goes on the throttle body its currently located up at the top by the TB but I have found no place for it to plug into so I assume it must go someplace lower on the intake side but cannot find anywhere to plug it in. The car is an 89 Turbo with the early wiring. Thanks in advance for any insight you may provide

Your plug goes under the tb on the intake. If you pull the TB and look under where the TB goes youll see it.

stupid question but Is the battery dead? You getting power to the starter? Check the ALT fuse under the hood.

Another thing that has nothing to do with your problem but what did you torque the head botls to? If you didnt do them then you might want to check them to save you the hassle of doing a HG swap over again. Old specs were 58ftlbs new ones were over 70ftlbs. My arps are about 77ftlbs.

Besides the obvious things like the dead battery mentioned, make sure you didin't put the ground strap on the battery pole of the starter. They look alike and are in the same area.

Of course, if you didn't take it off, that isn't it.

Also, you can have lights on but no cranking and still a dead battery. The starter takes 150 amps instantly, as opposed to 15 from the headlights.

Thanks for the replies, the battery should be good it starts my celica just fine, is there any reason that battery wouldn't be good enough? I'm pretty sure I checked all the fuses but will double check the ALT fuse when I get back to the car

So after today the best guess I have for the cranking problem would be the battery tried jump starting with my grandpas truck and once we got te cables hooked up well the engine cranked but did not start(it sounded like there were a couple of backfires, and what I assume was the BOV doing its thing(sounded awesome)) the battery does provide enough to crank it now no charging done to battery and only connected to the truck for about 30 seconds. Does this seem strange to anyone else? Also I am getting spark and fuel so tomorrow I will be double checking that the timing is correct, that is the most likely cause for non-start that I am aware of correct? I'm nearly certain that the ground wires are all attatched.

If someone could confirm my firing order is correct I've seen a couple different orders listed in various places but think I have it right 1-6-3-4-2-5 from exhaust to intake side of the coil pack.

Thanks that was dead on.

It lives now put in some gas since it ended up being nearly empty went ahead and replaced the spark plugs checked them and 1 wire fell apart in my hand so I got new plugs and wires tried again and bam started right up died about 30-45 seconds later. It idles a bit rough and stalls eventually I still have to move the CPS one tooth over since its at the max of its current adjustmentand needs just a little bit more.

It also blows a pretty decent sized cloud of whitish-blue smoke when I step on the gas, my friend thinks it should go away after the timing and just running it for a while since its been sitting for a couple years, any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

Also thanks everyone for the help from a very happy once again owner of a running turbo Supra(used to have a 91 but I was stupid and thought a honda would make me happier) and starting monday when I get it registered and some good plates there will be one more Supra back on the road.

I hate to revive an old thread..........but it seems there is misinformation here.

The firing order found in the TSRM is 1-5-3-6-2-4. That is found on page EM-3 in the TSRM

I'm assuming since you got it running Supra 80, that you got that straight?
