Car will only start if I jump FP and B+...

Will the 12 volt mod, which allows me to remove the relay and resistor fix it?
Thing is I tried doing the 12 volt mod, but I'm not sure I did it correctly. I just jumped FP and B+ (other two are left alone) on the four connector switch (goes to fuel relay); the two connecter switch that goes into the resistor is left unplug and not jumped. With this setup, the car still did not start.
So I just jumped FP and B+ in the diagnostic box. What am I doing wrong?

What I usually do in this situation is cut the conector off the old relay and put 1/4" spade terminals on for a bosch relay. The stock relays get corroded from moisture inside, usually from pressure washing the engine bay.
