Now i got the car to fire up but wont keep running. If i feather the gas it will run for about 30 secs but then sputters and shuts off. Could this be due to the lexus afm being installed without the injectors? What is the next step here?

here's the real question, did you run the lexus afm without the 550's or a wb02, which will make you run lean. It also sounds like your fuel pump could be dieing on you.

dont run afm without injectors or fuel pump!

dont run afm without injectors or fuel pump!

you need a 255lph pump and 550cc injectors!

you will fry your engine without

Question...did you happen to clean the AFM sensor (with carb cleaner) when you installed it into the Lex housing?
And, did you get the CPS/timing set correctly per the TSRM?

Running a Lex AFM without 550 injectors risks running lean at boost...that will ruin your whole day.

The fuel pump does not have to be replaced, but it is a good idea. A better idea is to get an adjustable fuel pressure regulator and drill out the "J" tube on the return line to be able to have "some" tuning ability.

USE STOCK AFM!! YOU WILL KILL YOUR ENGINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dude, you sound like Chicken Little ;)
:runaway:

You do need the 550 injectors when using a Lex AFM housing IMO, but you'll only "kill" the motor if you run it hard at high boost with 440's installed. Plus, you need the ability to adjust fuel pressure to balance out the AFR's (with either injectors)...a high flow fuel pump is not needed (I would do the 12 volt FP mod though on a stock pump w/ 440's installed), but is a good idea as "insurance" against going lean due to a fuel pressure drop at boost.

I know of a couple of guys that have run the Lex on stock injectors...they are using a fuel control piggyback to increase injector duration and an AFPR to increase fuel pressure. Not something I would do, but it can be done if you understand that you will not be able to increase boost to crazy levels. If you do this, a wideband O2 is a must to monitor AFR ;)

I had a SC Regal give identical symptoms last year. Turned out the fuel pump resistor was bad. Bypassed it, and it worked perfectly. Just FYI.

NO...do NOT do that! I wanted to be sure you didn't...it's the #1 killer of the electronics.

It still sounds like you have a timing issue...is your CPS set like this with the crank pointing at zero and the cam gear index's pointing up at the marks on the gear back plate. (Sure are a lot of timing issues lately)

Check all your connections too...coil packs, plug wires, AFM, CPS, etc.

ok i wont do it. haha. but the timing is dead on 0.and both gears are pointing right. i made sure it was perfect. ive checked all of the connections and they are all good. so its not the injectors? could it maybe be the fuel pump shitting the bed on me?
