i was just wondering if theres common or semi-common problems with the bad fuel mileage issue.

can someone make a list of sensors that will send the ecu into warm up or retarded without throwing faults.

ill go over the harness today and see what i can find. 1 last thing though, i have 2 red/maroon connectors that are hanging from around the intake runners. both look like the same color codes and connectors look identical. any ideas what they go to?

just got a pm a second ago...i guess i can post another bad fuel mileage thread...apologies for "thread jacking" though i think its still on topic and would help with future searching, guess im wrong...what do i know

ok guys found my problem. i had hooked up an a/f ratio gauge to my stock narrow band (spliced in under the dash at the ecu to be easier) when i tested the gauge i checked it on the blue wire right at the o2 sensor, seemed to work fine. anyways...after i got it in the dash i found that only the last lean dot would light up and it was super dim. so last night i made a 250 mile trip and averaged 22mpg, not bad considering i get 16 usually. BUT, while bouncing around the country roads i noticed the gauge started to work a little (should only have 1-2 dots lit up at a time but it had a sweep from lean all the way up to stoich, all leds inbetween lit up)

so today after dinner i decided to tear into the passenger side harness, completely take the loom apart and see whats going on. the o2 signal wire has that additional wire (like the signal wire is inside another wire) im fairly certain its to keep out electric noise from the motor...well anyways the harness is so decrepid that when it bent it broke the insulation of both wires letting the noise protector/ground to rub against the signal wire. simple fix and the gauge does the light show now. so knowing this, the ecu should for sure be getting a good signal and stop dosing so much damn fuel.

i plan on replacing the harness in the comming months, i mustve used a good 8 butt connectors on various other wires that had broken insulation...the harness is just toast and needs to go.

anyways just thought id post my findings and confirm that this will NOT throw a fault code. ill post my new mpg on the trip back, hoping for a good 2-3mpg increase atleast
