Seems no one has mentioned compression test or block test. Throwing bhg on everything with over heating and white is not the answer and not always is. Yes these motors do have hg problems but it could be a bad intake gasket since coolant runs through the lower intake gasket.

I would be sure that its the hg before doing anything else.

That he did I am going to ahead and fix it. Guess I'm going to go with a stock HG and studs after getting head machined. Anything else I'm missing while doing this that should be replaced?

Assuming it is a bhg?

Buy a head gasket set off Ebay for all your other various gaskets.. Replace injector O rings and intake manifold gaskets while your at it.. DO NOT USE THE HEAD GASKET THAT COMES WITH THE EBAY KIT! THROW IT AWAY... All the other gaskets are good

If it is a bhg would it continue to blow out white smoke ? I had turned on the car and drove it about 3 miles with no white smoke or any overheating tod/ first time it had been on in 2days.

It could be bad valve stem seals or some oil getting in somehow or even a turbo seal going out randomly. You should check instead of throwing parts.

If you are going to use the stock HG, I have an OEM one sitting at home (I put in an HKS Metal gasket) that you can have if you pay shipping (and if I can actually find it in my piles of supra parts). That's if the car fails a leak down test and you go the ebay gasket route.

IMO, if you are going to take the head off, get arps and a MHG...it's worth it in the long run.

You need block machined for mhg.

is this always the case i know a few people who have done a metal head gasket without doing the block just cleaning the hell out of it. im buying the parts tonight i want to do a MHG because i dont exactly plan on 500hp soon but i know i have this mod addiction SO I MIGHT AS WELL DO THIS ONE TIME INSTEAD OF TWICE. i have about $750 to do this job.

I know the right way is to do the block from what ive read but is there a way around it? i was thinking of getting a cometic head gasket, arp studs, full head gasket kit off of ebay, and getting block redone and valves.

Comectic are not less for giving. Its still a mhg and for any mhg on any car you need both block and head flat smooth and machined. Sure there getting away with it now but for how long. Gaurenteed that block is no where need flat let along smooth and straight.

Get your head machined clean the block and use a stock or felpro gasket.......Could easily be done for about 150 or less....

You have to pay to play. If you dont have the money to build your motor right why the f do you have money to make it go faster. Basically your telling me your going to add turbo pump injectors tuning and all that and skimp on the most important thing your engine which is going to handle it all?????/WTF??????

not what i was saying at all. its not like the car will be built over night.. i know how much cash i have now and i need it to be back on the road so if there was a chance i could do it the right way now instead of doing it twice i was gonna try

So you want to add a mg thinking you have added security? when your motor was not properly machined?

Either way you should spend all your money you have to spend on your car into a properly built engine as option a ot option b spending what little money you hvae to keep it on the road.

Yes i want 500hp. No i dont avhe the money for so yet it stays where it is untill i either have enough to money to do it right or swap 2jz in... Neithyer is cheap nor neither is an over night thing and my car is dd which im guessing yours is 2.

You need to figure out your prioritys and do whats right. And are you 100% sure its your hg and not something else because someone on here is telling you its your hg? Have you actually tested anything at all?

Don't blame anything on me.. I said it sounds like it but do a LEAK DOWN TEST FIRST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why fix something if it isn't broken.. Or your just not telling us something.. If you clean the block surface and get the head machined, throw a 79.00 felpro head gasket on and some ARP studs or BOLTS.. Im using the ARP Bolts with a felpro, I got my head machined and cleaned the block (THIS IS NOT THE CASE FOR A MHG) I have put 12,000 HARD miles on it and not one hiccup. If it is DONE RIGHT then you wont have to do it again!... Putting a metal head gasket on without getting machine work done is the wrong way..

i had taken it to a shop and they did the tests for me today it is a blown head gasket for sure so where can i buy a felpro gasket and where would you recommend buying a full head gasket kit for all various gaskets ill need. already bought the ARP'S..

I dont want to keep beating a dead horse, but...

for 180 bux more than the stock HG you can have an HKS mhg...and then you take the head off yourself...bring it to a machine shop and for another couple hundred...max...you have it machined and the head rebuilt. To me, spending the extra 4-500 is worth piece of mind. Once you start getting power, you're gonna want more and as you turn the boost up, that oem gasket is gonna give at some point...

As for the other gaskets, usually you get a kit from Toyota or somewhere else...
