Well, if I put a blindfold on and listened, it sounds like a massive case of rodknock, but I do find it rather strange that it seems to have more of a knocking sound "away" from the motor. It does indeed change with the RPM's...I am stumped. Only thing I can think of is rod knock but there's just something weird about it...

*Also, I watched it a couple more times...Is it the way that the video cut off or did it die after you revved it up at the end?

so it did it just driving down the road huh? i think it somewhat sounds like it could be in the valvetrain. but then again you wouldnt hear it out the exhaust really. my diesel truck sounded like that once and it was b/c of a bad injector. i know diesels dont relate much to gas but its possible it might be an injector. just try taking an apprach from ever angle i guess.....

Yes, pull the wires, take off your oil cap and listen,....pull your motor...:blah:
Find out what it is or some more "unusual" things happening and then tell us. I'd like to know exactly what it is. I don't think it would be an injector because that's an awefully heavy knock when he rev's it up. I don't know. :icon_conf

Sounds like a rod knock to me, just cause it does change with rpms, and my friends crx with a b16 motor in it started sounding exactly like that after he had to drive about 15 miles with no coolant in it at all.

No disrespect to you SC, but it sounds like a bottom end engine noise to me also. (Single piston related.)

Edit: Also, Great link...:)

I agree. There's no way to TELL FOR SURE if it's rodknock by a video, but judging by sounds and descriptions, it would be my guess...although, I do find something weird about it. :icon_conf

Oh I agree, it does sound like rodknock, or some major internal failure surrounding one piston.

However there's a difference between "sounds like", "pretty sure" & "definately rod knock".

The diagnostics will tell. I've seen broken clutches/flex plates/flywheels make sounds like that too.

Again, impossible to diagnose for sure over the Internet.
