So, here is an idea.
Nice thick alluminum pan with the "lower" panel being made of nice thick alloy bent up into kickouts for each side. (Some impact resistance this way, but eh sides could be thinner material for weight and cost.)
Rear mounted oil drain v/s the stock side one. (Less chance of dragging it off on something, and most of us jack up the FRONT of the car when we drain the oil...)
Magnetic plug.
8 Quarts capacity at the "full" mark.
Oil scraper or screen setup. (both would be best.)
Trap door baffles, and standard baffles to control oil slosh as much as possible.
Nice thick CNC rail to assure a leak free setup.
Get with ARP and offer a stainless stud setup with locking type nuts for the perfect 7M.
Drain fittings in AN10 on the right side, and AN8 on the left near the top. (I'd like an extra one on the left side to route a catch can drain into. Your catch can would be self contained, and since it's on the intake side, the cooler location should help to condense oil vapor over there better than the exhaust side.)
Canton would sell these to NA owners who want to go turbo, and to anyone building up a nice 7MGTE engine for sure.
Make sure it uses the stock pump, and provide information to bend the pickup down to within a few mm of their pan floor for the best possible oil depth when running.
The option of using other canton products like the filters and accusump would be maintained, and those who choose not to, would just have an excellent oil pan to start with.
They could use the same CNC rail to offer a dry sump pan with a few sump pickups on the side, and the same scraper/screen setup from the high capacity sump pan.
