Canadian spec Supra in the US

Hi everyone,

I am considering purchasing a Canadian Supra, LHD, that is already registered and titled in the United States. Has been since at least 1998, possibly longer.

Two questions:

1) Anyone had trouble registering a Canadian spec Supra, even if it was already titled in the US?

2) Is it as simple as swapping the gauge cluster and climate control panel with US spec, or are there other things involved?

Thanks in advance!

Aaron

If kilometers and celsius bother you that much, by all means change them, but those won't prevent you from registering the car. The speedo does have MPH, just as US cars have km/h on the small scale. As far as the climate control, degrees F = 9/5 degrees C + 32.

There are no significant differences between models in the early years, 90 and up in Canada has daytime running lights.

Thanks, Adam, and understood.

I can live with the Kilometers and Celcius, but I just happen to have a spare US cluster and climate panel, so I thought if they are a direct swap, it might be something I would do some day. Mostly concerned about and wiring harness differences between the two, that might caus them not to be plug and play.

I know for a fact that the climate control is a direct replacement. Gauge cluster should be no different.

the cluster is a direct swap. as i have a US spec dash in my canadian model (supermonitor) as long as its from the same model (turbo or NA) you will be fine, as the tach input is diferent between the 2.

or you can take the cluster apart and replace just the spedo head. its the same for all, NA or turbo.

Thank you Adam and Bio. I appreciate the input.

Does anyone know what I would need to do if I swapped in the US spec gauge cluster, to make the odometer read correctly in miles?
