Can you install injectors upside down?

Ok, when I installed my injectors, I did so with the clips facing down, because I didnt want the wires looping over the top of my fuel rail, trying to make it look clean... Will this be a problem?

I'm pretty sure that it would be fine. I don't think that it would disturb the flow because of how much pressure is already going through them.

anyone else look at the title and think that a noob was asking if you can install an injector with the spray side pointing up? I was thinking OMG a can't wait to see the responces then I looked at the poster and relized this isn't going to be a dumb ? wow what a disapointment I was expecting some serious flaming.

end thread jack/

Doesnt the fuel rail have pieces to hold each injector straight(wire clips up). Without those pieces will the injectors rotate on there own some how? I honestly couldnt figure out Why there was something on the rail to keep the injectors from rotating. Didnt seem like theyd rotate on their own at all.

Munky, if its a stupid or faulty decision, then flame away... It would take me 10 minutes to rotate them, and I would, if it was unsafe or going to cause my injectors to malfunction...

Wanna: I dont have those clips, never had them on my fuel rail... I think when I installed RC550s on my last Supra I had to take the clips off that car too... I dont see how they would spin around, the rail holds them pretty tight...

no I dont see a prob. with it at all. Its was not set up as an attack i9n anyway. I have the up most respect for everyone on this forum but the title just hit me wrong. Upside down I thought the whole injector not just turning it. I was disapionted that it was a good question and not something I could have a good lol at. That is not a bad idea for cleaning the bay up and I would like to know if there are any prob. from this as well.

when the injectors are installed in the rail they arent supposed to be in so tight you cant rotate them. they should have a bit of play in them.

So, has anyone done this? I could be a guinea pig I guess, but it would be nice to hear someone say, I did it, no problems...

I guess if you can install them that way and the rail tightens down then you should be fine.

sorry had to yell.

I've done it Reign for a car that I wanted the same clean look for.

It makes diagnostics surrounding fuel problems a royal pain in the ass (car had a Motec and I had a harness problem after a while..).

I switched them back to facing up (and I do all cars that way now) just to make it easier to get to them for testing, etc..

Mine have been like that for quite a while also jake. I did it when I got my FFIM, so I wouldn't have to extend wires. Harness is under the intake. Nice clean look :)

Edit to SC's reply:

I had to do a little troubleshooting the other day also. If you have a FFIM, and GM quick disconnect clips(you should), its pretty easy to disconnect them. I had a dead miss I thought was an inj, but it was just a plug gone bad. Took me about ten seconds an injector to disconnect them.

Thanks guys...

Gixx, I was actually thinking about doing that too, running my whole harness under the intake mani, but I was worried about the heat from the block, so I got some new loom and just rewrapped the harness...

I don't know, but I'd be inclined to think that the injectors are meant to face one way (assumption being that there is some spray pattern on the "down" side for better atomization). Again, that's my assumption.

BUT, it would be pretty easy to call up RC engineering. I'd bet they could tell you for sure...
