Can UEGO replace stock O2 completely?

I just got the UEGO wideband. I know it can show 0-5v like the stocker with the analog output it has. My quest is can I hook up the narrowband part of the wb to the stock ECU? I was told that most ppl still retain the stock O2 for the ECU and have the wb seperate. I guess just for datalogging and monitoring. So if you can use it instead of the nb, then why would ppl not use that option of the wb. I mean it does have a better sensor and all. Somebody put me on...

Any input is welcomed.

I don't know anything about your UEGO but this statement: "I know it can show 0-5v like the stocker with the analog output it has" is confusing. A narrow band O2 sensor, including the stock on on your car, does not output 0-5 volts. As for using the wideband for lambda control (even if it does have the correct output) I would recommend against. It'll work but it's not smart for several reasons.

Hmmm... ok I guess I had that wrong. "I know it can show 0-5v like the stocker with the analog output it has" <~~~ Im not even sure where I got that from. Forgive me :naughty:

But anyways, y would you recommend against it? Y would it not be smart?

To error is human, to forgive is divine ;). Not that it won't work (assuming it had the right output), it's just smart to keep your lambda system separate. The narrowband is a simple gadget while the wideband is not. It's simply an issue of reliability and redundancy. Btw, a narrowband outputs about 0-1 volt with stoic ocurring just around 450 mv.

If you got the AEM UEGO, the answer is no, it will not work. The 0-1v output is linear, unlike any narrowband. Some of the other brands have a simulated narrowband output that is supposed to work, YMMV.

Yeah, the Inovate unit will do the job. It's just a judgement call and as a control systems type I dislike such arrangements. Btw jimi, I've been meaning to compliment you on your car. Beautiful work.

Thanks Jetjock.

I know this is an older post, but the air must be cleared...the AEM UEGO can emulate a Nernst Cell non-linear narrowband output.
