I have a '90 NA Mk III I drive about 550 miles a week. I don't care about speed but I am starting to care more and more about the cost of putting gas in it. Is there a taller rear end available that will let me lower the cruising rpms?

IIRC, the MkIII NA has a 4.3 rear end, the MkIII Turbo usually has 3.7

there's a few other ratios available as well.

NA's all have a 4.3 diff

Turbo's came with 3.91 and 3.7

Both of the turbo set-ups would give you better highway gas mileage, but you may actually lose mileage in the city. I'd say, unless you find one cheap, you'd pay more on the diff than the savings you would gain.

***Edit: DOH!!! 3.71 and 3.93 as CRE has pointed out below. I gots my numbers mixed ::dunce::

3.93 and 3.71 for the 7M-GTE (depends on year), 4.30 for the 7M-GE. I wouldn't recommend anything taller than the 3.93 in a N/A... but you know what you're looking for. I've got a 3.93, but I'm swapping in a 4.30 LSD soon... for fun more than anything.

There are 7 or 8 supras here in the junk yards and none have the 4.30 for the NA's. They are 3.91 or 3.73. Ive also been looking for a 4.30. These supras were either imported from the states or sold here in Kuwait
91 and 92's only.
Scince your profile says your running the 1JZGE it should work fine with the 3.73 LSD as it has a higher power band than the 7M engine. I ran a 3.73 in my NA 7M and it was weak all around and piss poor gas mileage, put in the 3.91 and its much better for milage and power. I also changed the 02 sensor at the same time which helped.
