It has two wires coming off of it and one of the broke off of the connector/plug.
I dont know what it is though. I found something while searching that led me to think it was related to the brakes but I was kind of hoping it is the cause behind my tranny problems. Thanks for looking.

its a VSV, one is for the EGR, the other i think is either fpr related or cruise control.

There are two vac lines in it so I can see the EGR but the fuel press. reg? This is only the second car I have ever worked on (other than brake jobs, swapping altenators, etc.) and the first was carb'd so I am a little slow at this.

I cant seem to find that connector when I search (online) at the auto parts stores. Any one know what I need to ask for to get a new connector with the leads attached?

EDIT: guess you guys posted while I was typing and searching in another window. Awesome info. I am not surprised that this thing is not where it is supposed to be, there was a half-a** soldering job done to it once and wire nuts connecting a splice. Guess I should get better mileage and not as much timing advance? Engine is super sluggish and i gotta take off in Low, Kinda defeats the whole purpose of having an automatic if you have to shift.

I havent checked the timing yet but I read somewhere that the little plug helps control spark advance. If that is the case, it might be my whole problem. I know a timing light is a good tool to have in the garage but I dont have one yet so I am going to fix that connector up first and see what happens.

I havent figured out how to check the codes yet. I have gotta do some searching around here.

I'm pretty sure the VSV doesn't have anything to do with timing advance that has to do with the CPS and the RPM's of the engine. http://www.cygnusx1.net/Supra/Library/TSRM/MK3/manual.aspx?Section=FI&P=23 Look at that for directions on checking codes.

Sorry i havent posted sooner, had some tragedy with the camaro i'm buiding. Gotta get it running as a daily driver before i dig into the supra. All is well now though. I have to start with the carb and work up to the F.I. almost ready to rip into the 7mgte though.

I assume you mean the VSV connector. You can't see it from the top. You have to take the alternator off, then you can get at it very easily. Don't forget to remove the ground from your battery.
