A piggy back is not even remotely close to a standalone. Changing what the OEM did is easy. You have somehere to start.

Creating it from scratch, that is a task unto itself. WIring it all in correctly, another labor of love.

All i have to say, you have been warned.

thanks fig,

yeah i have been considering my option's and staying with a piggy back for this motor, seems like i would be wasting it's potential.

i know it's tough to swallow, but if i do skrew this motor up, i have all the parts to put a new one together. and yes thats even it i put an eagle rod though a wiesco piston into the side of the block.. but thats not my plan.

i have probe pistons and eagle's sittin in the closet waiting to find them self a motor along with good 7m blocks in the garage.

AEM can run sequential. I am running AEM with sequential and using coil on plugs. Look up X-man's posts on his aem configuration he has helped me out a ton in the past.

My main problem was trying to find the info I needed for our exact setup. MS is so adaptable it's overwelming and until someone else does it with a complete stock setup, I won't do it. (I'd get a field's harness and then wire it into the MS so I wouldn't have to hack my brand new harness)

Call me lazy, but I just don't have the patience, time, or money to do the R&D...

will do,

only thing with aem is the quality control, my brother has been telling me it's going to shyt. and to wait for more people to use the v2 before i go in that direction.

I have the first version kinda wish I have V2 for some of the new features. However at the same time I doubt I will use all the options I currently have.

tunning is about the same for any standalone, for a novice it can be very hard.

installation of a MS, depends on your abilty to read, comprehend and time you have to work with the unit. being able to read wiring diagrams helps tremendously.

definitly not some thing most high school kid's or young college kid's could grasp, not saying their stupid by any means just patients and time applied... they dont have it....

if you just got into "tuning" your car. This is not the Route for you.

i love my megasquirt. i wouldnt start with it on the built motor though, id put it on a stock one so you can learn to tune with it so you wont mess up the fresh build. its easy to tune wrong and have detonation and go lean etc.. with any standalone.

Im running an EMS Pro set up on my 7MGTE. Its basicly a MSII running squirt and spark with extra and every option built in. Its a 3.57 blue board, I think. Im trying to run EDIS as my ignition. Im haveing a bit of trouble getting a tach signal to the computer. I just moved and havent had much time to work on it tho. Hope to work it out soon and get it on the road. For the price you cant beat it. The tek support is great too. msefi.com DIYautotune.com megamanual.com Theres a guy in the UK that has 4 7mgte motors runnin on MS.

unfortunately there is no documentation whatsoever. I dont know if you are familiar with the SVO mustangs.they were a turbo 2.3. A lot of guys put volvo heads on the 2.3 motor because they have the same cylinder spacing and the volvo heads flow a lot better, you just need to modify the head for water, oil, bolts, etc. he was going to do that, but once he started he asked himself why he was going to all of this work when he could just use a whole volvo motor. its in a fox body mustang. I would take some pics but he doesnt live in the area anymore. He did show me a video one time of one of those big ass boxy volvos with 700 horse sliding around highway interchanges like the car was on ice... I thought that was pretty funny.
