i still have to put my exhaust cam in i had one. but this one guy who was working on it for me while on vacation snapped it in half. new one will be here soon. i have the head on and the intake side cam in correct. now where do i put the main crank pulley when i want to put the exhaust cam in so that i know the pistons are down enough that when i torque the caps down it doesnt keep my valves from going down and bend them. also for timing u want the pins strait up and the crankshaft at zero right?

As Nick mentioned, #1 at the top. Timing mark should indicate 0.
Make sure both cam sprockets are straight up.

To check for TDC on #1, I have found it easy to use a small wood dowel down the spark plug hole. Just make sure when the timing mark is at 0 your #1 piston is all the way up, and the rest should be pretty easy.

While your there, this is a good time to make sure your CPS (Cam Position Sensor) is at 0, or close to it as well. Then set your timing when the engine is running to 10 degrees of advance with a light and your good. (Follow the TSRM and short out the check connector, while running the lamp off the #1 spark plug wire...)

I painted the marks yellow on my last engine. Note cams are straight up, even though the intake does appear slightly off in the photo.
