hey, so after having my rabid chimp pos junk motor that i overpaid for for almost a year or so, i finally found out why i never got it to start... turns out them idiots mixed up the intake and exhaust cams... I was getting the same code as before, The no ne or g signal to the ecu which points to CPS.

Well turns out when i just took out the cps... AGAIN... i figured i should feel in there for the gear on the cam ... and whatta ya know... its not there. So, i got everything apart and now i have to reinstall the cams IN THE RIGHT POSITIONS...

just wondering now, exactly how to line them up... I saw an illustration in the TSRM on how to line them up and im assuming that you line it up like that with the motor at 1tdc.

^^that illustration

Just want some input to make sure...

I would imagine just put them in whichever way makes it easier. (Your choice of which valve its pushing on) Or you could just follow the picture.

At this point you aren't really lining them up with anything...

Uhh the tsrm is pretty clear in what to do. I don't know how to make it any simpler than that

just need to know if i need to be 1tdc for that line up to be correct..... and as far as bashing my post UTI knowledge.. what do you know? my uti education has me making really good pay. why is everyone on sm as asshole lately?... if you cant answer my simple question just pass up the thread. everyone has to bash and flame, it doesnt make any of you better than me or anyone you bash

I come from a land down under
Everything lines up at #1 TDC

Both cams install straight up

Install the belt with no tension on the tensioner ie: Push the tensioner to the side and lock it.

Once the belt is on unlock the tensioner and it's spring will do the rest, tighten the tension bolt to 36ft/lbs NO MORE than this or you'll warp #1 cylinder causing blowby.

It shouldn't be an interference motor according to people on the intarweb so it shouldn't matter what position the motor is in.

Well, it will... but that will be lined up when the timing belt goes on and all the match marks are lined up.

i think i might have to boycott HPF for selling the POS engine.
So much money, effort and time wasted because of this.

hpf has stopped carrying all rabid chimp products... The motor popped up on the site a little while back, but i believe they realized the mistake and just unloaded it cheap on ebay. Kyle from hpf claimed he will be in contact with me.
