Do any of you pay attention to Formula One? Apparently not because they have valves that are actuated by solenoids. An they can change the cam profile as the car goes around the race track. So if that technology came to be avaible to the public it would awesome.

I thought we were talking in a production car? The F1 cars ALWAYS have the latest gadgets - where do you think this shit gets tested? ;)

so this spherical valve system..is it used in anything? i'd like to learn more about this..
When I worked at GM (1992-1995) we had a Competitive Vehicle Evaluation (CEV) room and a Prototype scrap Wharehouse, they had the most amazing things in there, In the Prototype Wherehouse there were 4 sets of heads with that exact same valve design only with Cylinders instead of semi Spheres built for a V8. I went and searched out the old program manager for that project, he said they had horrible leakdown numbers, and sounded awesome once it was running because the exhaust ports could open so fast. They needed long intake runners on them because all of the test they did with them were with carburetors, and the intake generated a wicked vacuum pulse. None of their findings were published publicly, no need to save your competition research dollars. He said that it ran good but could never get the valve train (er intake and exhaust tract) to seal right. In conversations he kept correcting me, they had some acronym for it but I cant remember what it was.
