Ok so before anyone says it I've already searched and didn't turn upthr answers I needed,

I believe I read somewhere at sone point in time that turbo cams give an na more punch, I'd like to know more about this as I can get ahold of some turbo cams easy and my na is a great dd that i'd like more juice out of

anybody know?

Actually, I believe it's supposedly the other way around. Never have seen anything conclusive, although it has been covered many times.

i agree, it is n/a cams in a turbo, i was in the process of helping a friend do this, but i do not know the outcome...personally i would NOT do this, but thats not to say it can not be done.

anyone elaborate on this for the OP....

The whole N/A cams in a turbo being beneficial isn't entirely accurate... IIRC, they fall on their face after you reach your peak power. I don't expect there is anything to gain from swapping GTE cams into a GE.

The GE cams into GTE thing has been discussed a lot, might take a Google site search to find specific threads.

If the NA cams are better for the GTE why would Toyota waste money designing & making a new cam for it............Think about it.

To answer the power question about N/A cams, when N/A cams are in a GTE it will have a little more low end power, but loses power on the top end.

GE cam (as it's only the intake cam) in a GTE makes it fall flat on it's face in the top end, right where anything other than a stock turbo would be spooling and kicking into high gear (in other words, it's stupid).

GTE cam in an NA with supporting mods? Might help actually as it's more lift and if you have the mods for it it might not be bad.

The na cam in a na motor is set on a lobe center to create some overlap that causes the exiting exhaust to begin to pull the next intake charge in. You will defeat the proper NA cam profile by swapping in a turbo cam. Try a set of cam gears to defeat the built in emissions profile of your na cams timing. Also you can get a set re-ground NA cams to make a hotter set up.

Any aftermarket upgrade cam for a GTE can be used in the GE.
I run a GE, and have had just about every afermarket cam made for the 7M.
If you want to go all out, it is hard to find anything better than SIP's big lift billet cams.

Web cams did mine, you send them the cams and they hard weld them and send them back, hard weld are better than re-ground.

I don't understand, I looked all over sip's site but I didn't see cams for an NA, so what did u mean

Lots of things I do are not on my website. I sell nearly 600 different companies parts, but I don't have them all listed. It is just impossible.

What the guys are saying is,,if you want your set of na cams reground, you can send them to me and I can re-grind them to a .310 lift, 274 duration 220 duration @ .050 lift cam set. Then you will need a set of "make-up" shims approx .037 inch thick to place under the bucket to make up the reduction in base circle. You can email me or call me for specifics.

Like was mentioned, you can also send the cams to web cams, or a few others to have the cam lobes welded, then re-ground to a bigger profile. these type do not need make up shims since the base circle is not reduced.

You can also use a BC cam kit for the GTE motor as gofast mentioned. Just really work with the cam timing on the dyno to find a setting to make the best power for your NA motor.
