I was reading another thread which brought up the subject of degree-ing in your cams and it got me thinking about :

A. What is the factory setting on cam timing (intake and exhaust)?

B. What are optimal settings (vs. stock)?

C. Does anyone who has degreed in their cams remember how much their motor is off factory spec?

D. And if (typically) there is a variance with regard to stock cam timing, is it worth it in terms of perfomance to make the correction for that variance?

It would seem that tuning adjustable cam gears for the LSA that gives you the power where you want it would make the degreeing process moot.

On youtube there is a set of videos of where two brothers are making a show on Speed where they build a 1000rwhp MkiV, there is a good segment in one of the videos about degreeing cams.

A stock turbo'd car with an auto picked up 10hp and 5 lbs of torque at the wheels by adjusting stock camshaft timing.

Of course.. your mileage WILL vary. Every motor is different.

Really, it's the proper way to build a motor so everyone should be doing it.

I've degreed in the cam for a small block v8 but not for a twin cam 6.
But I plan on doing this to see what I can pick-up.

Anyone who has tuned their engines by means of cam timing?
