first, you shouldnt even be blowing air into the cover

second, yes reseal it because oil will come out of there..

I was going to say it sounds like you ran out of oil, check for rod knock before I read the thread. Yes reseal it! Those are the worst when it comes to oil leaking on this motor.

and it will be a source of pirate air in the intake tract.

i guess i have a fun job ahead of me. can i use the RIGHT STUFF from nappa?

dam i was told to put it over the hole gasket! when i changed it out 8 months ago there was silicone holding the it in all the way around it.

so i should clean it all out and put a new one in and only put the right stuff in the corners?

Clean everything off and just use your silicone in the *SHARP* corners right around the front cam caps (theres 4 spots). All you need is a dab. This is NOT talking about the corners at the back of the head etc, its talking about the sharp 90 degree turns on the gasket right on either side of the cam arch. Refer to the manual. Make sure your torque it to specs, its INCH pounds not ft lbs.

Are you sure you are not hearing the sound at the crankcase breather hose behind the alternator? ;)

no it"s coming out by the power steering reservoir.

this morning i took it out for quick run and when i came back there was oil burning and smoke was coming up from under the power steering reservoir :(

do you think this could effect my idle?

Yep, to a minor degree. Could be the CPS O-ring.

ok I will look into that. is it hard to check the CPS O-ring? i will check the TSRM and find out about it. thank you very much jdub:icon_razz

You're welcome. You will have to pull the CPS...make sure the cam gears are point straight up at the index and crank index is pointing at zero when you do. Note the position of the CPS (take the cover off before you remove) and make sure it points in the same place when you reinstall...a mark on the CPS case will help. The CPS will rotate when you reinstall.

i fine point screw driver or pick works awesome for marking the adjustment bolt to cps orientation. make a semi-circle around the bolt where it is at. Every time ive had to re align things i use this method. Ive always gotten perfect base timing with out adjustment. Double check it with a timing gun to verify though!

Of course the internals have to be lined up correctly like mentioned as well
