i got the original screws and an old valve cover gasket with the grey silicone stuff all around it - no leaks.

Never used Loctite or Silicone and 0 leaks here.

Same here. Allen button head with internal star locks, retorqued after the gaskets take a set. I also use UV dye in the oil and coolant at all times.

Stainless cap screws and stock type rubber grommets.

Same here, torqued to stock spec, no problems. (Hint: use the proper sized screwdriver to avoid stripping them) You may have to retorque them a couple of times until the rubber washers crush and seat. Most overdo it here.
