DO NOT WASH WITH DISH SOAP!

Good lord people...

uh, i could be dumb here, but why not wash with dish soap? I thought that was the best way to wash a car. I use palmolive or something and it seems to work real well on the car, i didn't think car wash soap was much differnent, just more expensive?

Actually i used it on my WRX too, then used a detail wax, and people used to ALWAYS ask me if the car had custom metal-flake paint job at the car shows (that stock platinum silver metallic was an awesome color for Subies).

In a nutshell dish washing soap strips all the wax and oils from the paint . I like to wash a car about 1 a year with dish soap to strip off all the old wax and residue then clay bar and rewax right after but if your don't going to rewax the car then don't use dish soap

...for one thing figgie is correct about the mixture of hardener and reducer. it doesnt have to be perfect but ball park at the very least.

I've painted some cars, and it's always been my understanding (as told by the paint supply guys, as well as read on various manufacturer's sites) that it does have to be a perfect mix for any long term durability even with eurethanes, especially the hardner has to be exact.

well i decided to leave the car outside over night and it seems like the cold air makes the marks dissappear. any ideas what causes this now? maybe its just the mixture of paint? i know when i first had the car painted i never had this problem. that was 4 years ago. I think the problem started last summer.

Could mean anything really.

My first thought, even before you mentioned MAACO is still pointing to the paint and how it was mixed, reduced, catalyzed and hardened. After you mentioned MAACO, I would DEFINETLY be suspect of the paint and how it was processed before being sprayed.

hmm, eh i'll guess ill just deal with it, i planned to get the car repainted next summer anyway. at the time i got the supra i didnt know much except i hated the baby blue lol this was 4 years ago. so now i know what to look for and what i want so no biggie i guess

yah i've never heard of macco doing anything right, but if its just water marks from drying in the sun...
my cars black and who doesn't wash there car when its sunny, i hate water marks:aigo:
i bought a armorall shammy, the more expensive one that feel really weird, but i start on the roof, and keep everythign wet till i'm done, then dry it. no more water marks... just the damn water that comes out of the bumber after the first drive:icon_evil
