Calling all mk3 guys!!!!

:1zhelp::1zhelp::1zhelp::1zhelp:OK I HAVE TWO PROBLEMS,first is when my mom bought the car (its hers) it had no dash lights and the climate control wouldnt do anything,so i did some work and found out it was the dimmer switch.so i got rid of that and they worked.so next i started trying to figure out why there was no a/c,heat,or fan cutting on.i found the problem was the blower motor wires were backwards,so i fixed that.now the thing that pisses me off is i have no dash lights any more and the taillights dont work either.i looked at the diagrams and noticed that the dash lights and tails are tied to each other along with a few other things,so please tell me where i should strart trying to find the problem cuz im stumped.
SECOND PROBLEM the car is going threw coolant WAY TO FAST but the oil is perfect,no smoke,and runs perfect.yesterday i noticed the high pressure line on the power steering had a slow leak.the fluid was green so of course i thought bhg but after i saw the PS line leaking green fluid i elimanated the bhg idea.so now im thinking since the water pump is right on top of the PS,maybe its the water pump or the gasket?????please help

I'm not to tech savy with the wiring so I can't help you there but have you checked for holes in your coolant system or maybe a small leak?

Check the 15amp fuse for the dash/tail lights is it blown. If so check for shorts checks all the bulbs, the most common problem is there is a radio dimmer wire that people just leave hanging after an aftermarket radio installation I think it’s like orange or green.

Burning coolant might be BHG, but before you check for that. Does the car run hot? "Take it to a shop have it pressure tested also have the radiator cap tested".
Does it misfire when you start it after it’s been sitting for some time?

ians13-i dont think it is burning coolant,the car doesnt run hot,and starts perfect,im about to check for the wire

Orange, and there's a negative and a positive. Good idea though. 7EMPIRE, does the above (about the stereo) apply?

i do have a aftermarket stereo and i checked for the wire and i think i found it it was orange and had a black stripe, but that was not the problem.it turns out it was a fuse FACE PALM.thanks for the help ians13.

Check fuses, the weep hole might be leaking, indicating the water pump is needing replaced. Or theirs a leak.

where is the weep hole located? if that is it thats pretty cool how that works, but i will check

Bottom of the water pump i believe, dont have one near me right now.

Or it is the 90 degree hose right above the water pump.

no i havent found the coolant leak, 97percent sure its the water pump. i will check the 90 degree hose tomorrow.and if thats not it im putting in a new water pump friday

Happened to me twice, lost large amounts of coolant and thought it was the water pump.

just make sure you get a toyota hose because there much better quality, and that little hose is a real pita to change.

there has to be a way to upgrade that hose to like braided... hmmmmm.. I might do this

There is always a way...but it will require welding and removal of the engine....not worth it as that 90deg hose lasted the past 20 years!
