Lets not start fighting guys!

But i dont see the point of Mike joining up to invite people, when mainly its only supramania people over there. Unless he is doing it to be mean to Jeff and Mike.

Jeff's comment was, for all intents and purposes a backhanded slap in the face to the SM staff and community, drawing parallels between us and SF. Implying that we've gotten to big for ourselves and it's time for someplace new. Someplace run by different people.

The statement "I like some of the people here, and I'll be inviting them to go there too" implies that he also does not like some of the people here, and that they won't be invited.

In the world of politics or in a courthouse, we would be expected to "ignore" that and make believe we don't notice it.

Fortunately for us, we are neither politicians or lawyers, so we can call bullshit when we see it.

I just find the hubris of using SupraMania to promote a competing site and in the same breath comparing us to SF somewhat funny. If we were as bad as SupraForums, as many have implied, I'd be banning 1/2 a dozen people and firing a few staff members right now instead of writing this.

I've been around Supra's a long time (bought my 1st one brand new in 1990), since before the original SOGI days, the 1st mailing list, etc... I've watched all of this build up, fall apart, rebuild, etc over and over again.

I've seen it all. The MKIV split, SILV vs Texas crap, the start of MKIV.com & Supraforums, rogue mailing lists, jokes like iSupra, Tozer and his attempts to patent Supra slang, more and more (lesser) supra sites, etc.

One of the largest problems I've seen with the Supra community over the years is fragmentation. There have NEVER been that many of us. The car is rare, so obviously the enthusiast/owner is more rare than that. We really can't afford for the general community to shrink. Camaro and Firebird guys can do that, there are more of those cars made in one quarter than there were of all our production dates combined. The existing MKIII vs MKIV bullshit does more than enough damage to the Supra world without more fragmentation.

There are an ample number of those "there's a post every 6 months" Supra sites.

However I'm not really concerned, if SM is fatally flawed, it will die, as it should and something else will replace it.

But I think we've built a community here, not just a website, so I don't think SM is going anywhere anytime soon.

I wasn't fighting, I just find it very entertaining, and I don't like to just "pretend" that it's all good...

That was a facetious rhetorical question. I have no intention of advertising for SM over there... C'mon dude, you aren't that dense.

I guess I didn't see anything as an insult... comparing SM and SF to each other is like apples and oranges and I certainly don't think SM has gotten too big for itself.

I guess I'm just a forum junkie, lol

As much as I agree with Mike (Supracentral) 100% on what he's said...

I do have to throw down the towel and say that Supramania has been changing a lot lately. You are 100% correct on it being a community rather than just a forum to post shit...and I completely agree.

However, I don't know if it's been the severe punishments of having too much fun in threads or the post whores taking it a step too far or the mere fact that things aren't just adding up...but to me, I can truly say that I hesitate to post things anymore for the stupid fear of the ban stick.

I do still enjoy being part of Supramania and a majority of the members are great people...and no matter where you go to for a public forum, those stupid, newbie, dickhead, two-faced, scamming, prick some of a bitches are going to be everywhere. I, along with a large hand full of people can agree that Supramania is getting close to that line...and while I understand that NOBODY has control of that.............. I simply don't like what's been happening lately.

The smallest things irritate me anymore.
Me reading posts with Mods/Admins talking about doing a 24 Hour ban if we say ANYTHING that relates to an inside joke....IS A JOKE.

NOT POST WHORING, But having fun and enjoying eachothers company is what makes this website a community.

And for multiple reasons, with no harm intended, I can officially say that I'm feeling a lack of community anymore.

Who knows. Supramania is still my main page, it's still my go-to place for questions/knowledge.................I guess we'll just have to go with the flow and see what happens. :icon_conf

SupraForums has gotten too big, I didn't imply Supramania was. I personally
like SM a lot. I'm sorry if it sounded like a backhanded comment, it surely
wasn't meant as one. I'm sorry if you inferred that, that was NOT my intent.

Actually Again I said I was going to invite some of the people from here, only
because I can't invite everyone as I don't know everyone, again I didn't imply
ANY dislike on ANY person here. The people who I have beefs with (and
there are VERY VERY few) know about my beefs with them.

Um, I guess call it B.S. I'm sorry you feel that way Mike

I actually posted on SupraForums, Supramania, celicasupra.com and MKIIItech.com All the sites I have been on with any regularity for a while.

Very very true. That's what made Supramania break off from SF.

Neither do I. I owned the web address and was asked to put up a forum.
The owner(s) asked to remain anonymous, and they are not given any
special treatment.

Hold up and actually think about how many people have actually been banned here. Do you know? I do, because I'm looking at the banlist. During the last 3 months of 2006 we banned 9 people for discipline problems. SF bans that many people in a day...

VERY few people have been banned, and I'll be glad to review each and every one of them them with anyone on a case by case basis to show you that every single one of them pushed and pushed and pushed before they got the ban stick.

It has NEVER happened. Nobody said that saying ANYTHING that relates to an inside joke would get you banned.

The last time a ban occured for that, it was due to one user posting 91+ posts in an hour to some poor girls "hello" thread that consisted mainly of obscenities and crude images in service of a private joke.

Yes, that type of behaivor will get you banned. If you post more than a post a minute on a forum, you damn well know what you are doing.

Especially if it follows being warned about that behavior over a few weeks.

Grab me in the chat if you want to talk about this more. People do not get easily banned around here. We just cleanup fast so many times you may not be aware of the 200+ posts that led up to the ban.

'nuff said, back to the original topic.

Folks, we aren't politicians or lawyers. We've never acted like them. We don't play the "Hah! I see you violated rule 27 subsection 4! Therefore you must be banned!" crap. We never have.

Common sense applies. Again I ask that you show me one user who was banned without ample fair warning, PM's from moderators and/or admins, just one. Go look for them. You won't find one.

Every single one of the people who was banned was banned for discipline problems after WEEKS of moderators and admins trying to get them to tone it down. (Scammers and thieves get banned without warning, but again, that's just common sense...)

Again, you guys aren't that dense... Look around you. Any people get banned who were just normal members and said something out of line? Anyone?

No, you'll only find problem children who caused us weeks (and in some cases) months of grief before they finally got kicked to the curb...

AGAIN, 'nuff said, back to the original topic.

:) I love it here... I've even got them fancy stickers on my car!

Seriously tho, I love it here and the admins/mods are doin a great job keepin this place in shape, I visit almost daily and spend a lot of time reading and learning here. Almost all of my supra knowledge was obtained here and I enjoy every minute I spend on this website. Sure, being a website designer I would rather enjoy a little nicer layout than the standard vBulletin affair we are using (slightly modified of course, but the tables and graphics are the same)... other than that great job guys!

I mean c'mon, with all the great well organised group buys, the nice and organised forsale sections, the general sections and even an offtopic section to talk about anything you want, aswell as the ROTM and ROTY with prizes? What more could you ask for?

I don’t think SupraMania.com is going anywhere. I can tell you I made at least 200 SM stickers if not more. I still get PM's every so often asking if I still make them. I have to say that I did not think I was going to make 200 SupraMania.com stickers, Plus all the users that wanted their names on them. When someone decides to advertise a website on their car it shows how much they like the site.

I don’t have a problem with other Supra or 7M websites. I’m not 100% sure I would advertise it here. At least without asking the admins or setting up some sort of mutual agreement first.

I mean Burger King does not go to the McDonalds parking lot and invite everyone over right?? If you have a good site people will find it. That’s how I found this site, GOOGLE search!
