Calling all Dyno Goo-Roos!

I went to the dyno about a week ago. The session was cut short because my wastegate was sprung too light. 8 psi.

As a result, the turbo spooled VERY slow and not hit full boost until 5100 rpm. I brought the car home and adjusted the wastegate to 12.5 psi. Now the car reaches full boost at 4400 rpm. Obviously, the butt dyno likes this!

Well, I went back down there today to schedule another session to finish up and my buddy told me that I'd be just throwing my money away. He said that regardless of the wastegate psi change, that the car wouldn't make any more power.

I thought ok fine and asked him to retrieve the session to get the HP and TQ numbers.

The numbers were amazing! I was floored at what I saw! 301 hp and 290 tq @ 15 psi. I laughed and asked him if he was sure he didn't accidentally pull up a Honda's dyno. Then I got the insult...."7M's aren't known for anything; but, problems..."

So, regarding my dyno numbers, is he right or should I take the car somewhere else? I just can't believe that with the following mod list, I'm sitting in a 300 whp car.

I made more power at less boost with a smaller turbo and a stock fuel system on my previous dyno pull. Something is just not adding up.

JT62 @ 15psi
Built Fuel System
Fidanza FW
Extrude Honed Intake Manifold
AEM Dryflow
DM IC
2.5" IC Pipe
AFR's - 11.2-11.5
5 spd
Maft-Pro/Speed Density
Blitz elbow/3" DP/HKS Super Dragger

Take it somewhere else.. I just made 260ish hp and 291ftlbs on a stock ct at 12psi, stock intercooler and pipes, lex afm and 550's, 3" turbo back..

You should be WELL over that.

Dyno Dynamics. He did say that he's seen as much as a 100hp difference between his dyno and a DynoJet.

Yep, and that change moved my full boost mark in around 700 rpms.

What was you expecting it to make? My car @ 18psi made 539rwhp, but I don't know what it makes @ 15psi. My lowest boost setting is 18.

Taking in to account that every car is different, when reviewing the Dyno/HP Thread I expected my car to be between 380 and 400.

I also spoke with Jeff Tamulus. He had a dyno session/log when he was at 15psi with a JT62 and we compared that data to what data I have. It was all VERY close. He had made ~400 on that pull.

I don't where my car is at; but, after talking with him....we've concluded that it's certainly putting down more than 301.

LOL, I made 289rwhp, 295rwtq on a Mustang dyno with a dying CT26 @ 15psi with nothing more than a BIC DDP, Fidanza LWFW, generic cone intake, AFPR, and Clutchmasters stage 3. Something's seriously wrong, dude.

(wow, that was 6 yrs ago. :()

Well, after conferring some other locals, the same story is echo'd. "No one makes power on their dyno." For what that's worth...

I just don't understand how they can say that I won't make more power by increasing the wastegate pressure from 8 to 12.5 psi. It literally moved my max boost point in ~700 rpms. Thats more time that my turbo has to spool and make power!

Unless my thinking is off... ;)

First off, with there attitude at this dyno facility(Ricer Central), I would take it somewhere else. I'm not sure I understand what's going on.. Did you redyno it with the heavier wastegate spring? With a 62mm turbo and your mods, you should be around 360-400rwhp at 15psi if everything is right.

They did not re-dyno.

After my conversation with them, I decided to rethink whether or not I wanted to take my car back down there.
