Im planning on moving to california to live with my brother whos going to school up there now next spring and am probably going to be taking my supra.

What are the laws in regards to being street legal like for lowered suspension, exhaust, and wheels?

I finally got my project going and its now 5 speed and will soon be dropped on H&R springs. Im probably gonna have my 3" straight pipe to apexi n1 exhaust from my last supra on after its dropped.

you can do anything you want to it, we don't have safety inspections, and as long as you have red reflectors on the rear, and the brakes light up red, you can run anything you want..

under the hood is a different story, however...

you must have all emission related components installed, AND YOU MUST have a catalytic converter. Not having one is an automatic fine ($2k, I think?!?), plus you're sent to the state ref...

other than that, you're gold..

If you can you'd probably be better off leaving your car registered in Hawaii. I was thinking about storing my car in California next winter so I could actually drive it in the winter months, so I looked into it with my insurance company. Its Called territory X insurance. Meaning that the car stays registered and insured here in Canada, but is operated mainly out of country. Maybe your insurance company will offer something similar.

Like everyone has said, smog is the biggest issue. Your mileage may vary on the other mods. I have lived in SF Bay Area, and Orange County most of my life and have never been hassled ticketed for being too low or modified exhaust (been warned though even for a carb legal greddy trust exhaust back in the day). But i have known people will the cop will measure their headlight height or have been asked to pop their hoods. Your wheels are fine.

yea just dont speed and you should be fine...

+1, don't attract attention to yourself.

...and get a converter. I'm sure cops can point out which cars don't have them just as easily as I can.

I would recommend leaving your car registered out of state, if possible!....ITS MADNESS out here with smog. Yet you have mustangs and camaros rollin with headers out. IMPORTS are targeted by CHP ill tell you that rite now.

your best bet would be to disguise your supra as a 30's-50's roadster.
Then you could do whatever the hell you want.

Make your car as quiet as possible. Put a catalyctic converter on your car because there r random smog check points on public roads. (Kinda like checkpoints foe drunk drivers. Cops will choose random cars to pull over to the side of the road and hook them up to the portable smog machine.)

Never heard of a cop doing that to anyone before, not to mention that I would kinda doubt that Ca would actually have the money to supply those or train the officer to use them for that matter.

all i can say is be careful. because when they do catch you its a pain in the ass to swap all your mods back to stock. i guess it sorta depends on the setup but yeah. no fun especially when you have to drive 3 hours to the ref station and get a hotel room cause they only had an appointment at 8:30. as you can see i have delt with this before. lol.

like others have said keep the noise down and watch your ass by those overpasses when screaming down the road. anyway i love cali and deal with the lame laws.
