Hey everyone, I like to go canyon driving from time to time and rarely see any Supras. After suffering a busted tire (sidewall bulging) after running over a signpost idiots threw onto the road (probably thought it was funny or something) I went home but my friends I went with stayed. They met a guy with an 87-88 NA Supra, 5 speed. Him being a newbie, he promptly wrecked the car into one of the rails coming off a decreasing radius blind left turn. I agreed to go look at the car, and last night went to go look. The car itself is a basket case. To add insult to injury, a brand new Evo who was following the Supra made the SAME mistake and ran right into the back, taking out the right taillight. Stem to stern the car is pretty much a lost cause, but I'm buying it fairly cheap. I'm going to just sawzall the broken parts of the frame off, and am planning on using the 7M-GE and 5 speed to run in my busted 89 Turbo until I can build a 7M-GTE. I'm still up in the air about the 5-speed though, as I would like to retain automatic mainly because my 89 is going to be a Restomod project. The interior on the parts car is very nice for it's age with the exception of the passenger seat. It matches my 89 interior so I will be using that. Kinda looks like the seats might have been recovered some time ago. I bet a good frame-builder could repair the front end damage, but the rear doesn't look too good. It has TEMS, but no Sport Roof. My main concerns are ECU hookup, engine mounts, and power steering effect, as my 89 had progressive. I may just swap the whole thing into my 89, since the motor is pretty much out of it anyhow. We'll see.

I brought home the parts car yesterday. I would rate interior as 85%. Lots of minor cracks and such, but definitely not as bad as my car. Now begins the fun part... of cutting and unbolting... Anyone know what it takes to (temporarily) swap in a 7M-GE (whole engine) into a GTE Body?

The bodies are exactly the same, the difference between the 2 cars, would be wire harness, ECU, the engine itself, and extra parts like the intercooler

as far as the swap, its pretty straight forward, dont forget, the GTE has the R154 transmission, which you will also need to transfer the driveshaft.

Have fun haha, good luck

and post pics!
