I come from a land down under
It's not the HP that tears up trannys it's the Tq, plenty of Rotary racers here use W's at insane hp levels but they don't produce much in the way of tq so they get away with it.

7M + carefully built W58 + gt3040r @ 9psi and it started showing signs of stress so I retired it before it took a dump.

Typically high mileage boxes have worn through the hardening on the nose of the mainshaft where the needle roller inside the input shaft lives (Foot off the clutch at lights idle grumble is a good indicator of this)

The general agreement is not going beyond 300 "hp" on the W58, though some have gone beyond it for a short period of time. But the build is shooting towards the 500 range on a 7M and the torque that thing makes... just go with the R154. If you decide to stick with a W58, make a video and post on youtube for us to watch when you go for a good launch. :naughty:

it may a LITTLE as the gear ratios are different (slightly), not to mention the components are far heavier...

why you'd want an R154 in an N/A is beyond me as the W58 shifts nicer...

nah personally it wasnt for me to swap out....
i have an original turbo + R154

i was just looking into the gearboxes to see what mods can help an NA to be quicker

but thanx for the info
