My guess is that is where the injector sits, I see no asshattery, I see smart design as it will help atomization of the fuel and dispersal through the intake charge...

the asshatery is that the air getting intially mixed with the fuel is funneled down to a 2-3mm opening. what you cant see is the butterfly valves keeping the main area closed off that i already removed. Until you would go WOT, the butterfly valves kept the main area of the runner completely shut. its a dumb design.

What's the torque curve look like though? I'd image it would burn better at lower RPM leading to more torque.

It would be cheaper to make it the simplier way, so there must be a reason it was done. Especially with the rally circuit running restricter plates...

it was for emissions. the car has no cats on it, so i doubt it could pass anyways

it is tagged till next january, but the dumbass kid at the dealer got it through "channels" and whoever did it gave him the 85 year model and earlier style sticker

Lol, well just in case anyone is wondering why I'm doing all this work for my brother's car, it's because my younger brother is borderline autistic. He's worked his ass off to overcome it and makes nothing but A's and B's in school. I'm doing this so his social confidence increases, as he will easily get asked questions about it at school.

Start of today

TGV's before and after comparison; first is rough worked

Finished aside from sanding roll work tomorrow

Finished for the day with the new wheels, definitely makes the paint stand out as needing work. The coilovers arent here yet, so the stance is definitely not set in stone.

aaahh, so he has Autism..

I was wondering why you're going through so much trouble for him..!

sounds good though, glad to hear he's fighting it, and not just using it as an excuse like many kids/parents...

Looks really nice! You should post pics once you get the coilovers on it, it should look even better with them. :)

well as an update to this car, got it running, now just needs MAJOR tuning.

this was the cause, the JDM motor had the timing gear on the left, USDM on the right. you can see the difference in the number of teeth for the CAS to pick up. changed them out, redid the timing, and bam, started right up

p1561875_1.jpg

goes to AWDTuning.com saturday for tuning and misc little things

Great work on a tidy little ride for your brother. Are you worried at all on the choice of a quick little turbo car for a first ride?
