Well all my goals have changed. at least long term goals. I had recently been looking for a upgraded ct. I got alot of feedback including the obvious just go t4. At the time I was not sure I wanted to invest in this much of a upgrade. WELL I just bought a pt-63 turbo - HKS t4 exhaust mani with hks 40mm wastegate. custom 3.5 stainless downpipe to 3.5 stainless exhaust on a APEXI n1 exhaust. I got this for a grand. This thing looks brand new.

So with this type of setup I know I can get more hp when I am ready. My question is since my block is sitting here ready to hit the machine shop. Would it be a wise investment to put in forged pistons. I recently got a set of crower rods from the guy I bought the car from cause he had them laying around and did not want them. All I have now is the actual pistons to get correct? I just know that I want this motor to be like a vault. I dont want it blowing up in 4 months. I understand a good tune is important and that is a sure thing.

SO Forged or not. Pros and cons. I feel that in the future I will want to be knocking on the 550 hp mark. at this time not to interested.

if your planning on pushing a lot of power.... then yes. you should get some forged pistons. its good insurance that you wont blow your newly build motor. personally, i have melted a piston. and it was a pain to figure out what the problem was until i pulled to motor apart. but that was due to a faulty injector. forged pistons can take the abuse of a high powered car.
im currently finishing my build after months of planning and research. forged internals, arps all around and replacement of vital component (oil system, pump, etc, all seals and gaskets) should make my build "full proof."
if your planning on making a lot of power in the future, and your building your motor now... then you might as well make the investment now instead of having to do so down the road
good luck

so far i have no complaints. just make sure the machine shop sets up the piston to wall clearance right. and the fact you got those rods for FREE is fuckin awesome!

my car has forged pistons, and theres no slap, no odd noises, or anything! its actually a little quiter then i thought it would be. but i got the whole thing balanced too. i was told just to make sure its up to temps when ever i plan on boosting it.

yea I burnt up a piston myself. I was advised it was a faulty injector more than likely. Not to mention I was just looking at the pistons I took out today and there were 2 others that were broken between the rings one was bad enough that you could pull it away from the piston half way around. It seems there are alot more reasons to rather than not to after the research I have been doing. I was just putting this out there to get ideas on what to expect if I go. prep work and warm up. Im not familiar with this but I have pulled every bolt off my car and it will stay that way. If I can do it I surly cant afford to pay someone to. Thanks.
