I have been running Brain Crower stage 2 cams in my 7mge for over a year now. They have provided a good improvement in performance and for the price I am a happy. All the base circle diameters were spot on and all clearances came in within about 3 thou of the factory cams. I only adjusted two shims.

However, the distributor drive gear is out of phase and is a complete pain in the arse. In the designed position I cant get more than about 5 deg BTDC static advance. Advancing the dizzy by one tooth gives me way too much advance and if I adjust the distributor I can't get less than about 20 deg BTDC static advance. I ended up filing a bigger slot in the dizzy to get about 13 deg BTDC static advance.

The only other guy I know who has tried these cams had exactly the same issue. I emailed Brian Crower regarding this issue and got a complete blank. "No one else has reported this issue".

Anyway. Great value cams, but beware of the dizzy drive phasing issue.

Reading this makes me wonder, You mention distributor. If your running NA, is it possible the phasing is different between NA and turbo? And if you bought turbo cams I could see that as a problem. May not be the case, but just an idea. I have my cams on order from BC and was told they are on back order at the moment. So im stuck in a holding pattern on em.

Turbo and NA engines have the same Toyota part number for the exhaust cam.

I have seen before and after dyno sheets on a NA engine where power went up by about 10rwkw.
