Breather filters on the PCV locations? What about the ISC valve?

The accordian hose has two provisions. One for the PCV line and one for the ISC valve line. I'm running a T4 on an ebay manifold and will be running a MAP ECU deleting the AFM. I'm not going to have provisions for neither line.

I think I'll just run a couple of breather filters on the PCV line. Could I do the same for the ISC valve? Or does that have to be rerouted back into the intake? Are there any ill effects in doing so? Will the car not run right?

If you're going MAP, yes you can use one on the ISC. BUT, do NOT put them on the valve covers as you're eliminating the PCV system, which is not just a vent, but actually applies vacuum to the crank case (lowers pumping loses so more power, but the important part is it helps your rings do their job)

So don't use breathers on the PCV valve cover ports, or don't use them period?
Can a run a length of hose somewhere else and put a breather on it?

EDIT: Ok, I think I get what you're saying. Do not eliminate the PCV system. I guess I'll have to route it before the turbo like the stock system. I might as well do the same for the ISC valve too.

you can use breather on isc.. but dont put them on valve cover... route them pre-turbo with or without catch can or to exhaust (there's some debate whether this system works well but its worth lookin into it) or to an electric or mechanical vacuum pump for pcv systems

System routed to the throttle body and the accordian is best (there is very low flow through the accordian anyway). Routing it to the exhaust won't work on a street car, plus it will destroy a cat.

So if I cap off the side running to the Accordian, and leave it connected to the throttle body I'd be ok. That would make sense. I'd still be pulling vacuum through the throttle. I'll do that.

No don't do that either haha. The PCV system on the 7m is a little odd compared to NA engines. When you are cruising around low speed, there is hardly any flow in the turbo inlet area, so vacuum is pulled through the small restriction in the throttle body, and PCV vapors are drawn towards the throttle body. When you boost, however, the flow direction changes and vapors are drawn in by the turbo inlet, so like poodles said, you need both sides hooked up.

ya but who runs cats :p haha I know of several cars that run the vacuum off the exhaust

Anyone that respects the people around them ;) Only 2 reasons not to run a cat, you're cheap, or you run race gas.

Dumping them into the exhaust ONLY works with high flow through the exhaust, i.e. full throttle. That's why they work fine on drag cars, and also why they won't work fine on street cars.

Or you live in a country that doesn't require them. Like here. Or Japan.

Or most of Canada, and it's effective at all throttle levels and really not as bad as one might think. Unless you have ALOT of blowby and then you have other issues.

Besides, more often than not it get instantly burned and comes out as a shot of flame.
