Hey guys, first of all, there's some awesome knowledge to be had amongst you guys. As you can tell, I've done tons of research on here before I bought my Supra the other day, and it has helped a ton. Just haven't had the need to post anything yet!

Bought this 87 7MGTE 5-spd, 123000, $2300, and this is the first Supra I've owned, and also the 1st turbo:icon_razz

The turbo sounds like a freakin airplane!! I'm guessing this is normal? whruummmMMMMMMSHHHHHHHHH *shift* PSSSsss

Maybe I'm just attenuating my ears to these new car noises. :icon_ques

A serious thanks to any help, now AND in the future.

If the turbo and blow off valve are that loud I'd guess they've been upgraded?

That I don't know. What's an easy wasy to check without pulling the intake, heat shroud, etc.... The guy said it was a new turbo. Key word, 'said'.

I'll get some pics posted up tomorrow, the car's in for paint (bought it primered)

Post pics. ;) Often that's enough. Congrats on the purchase.

One question, did the previous owner mention if the head gasket had been replaced?

He did say that it was replaced, I asked if it was a metal HG, and he said yes. I really can't get in there to see, but from what I can see, the valve cover gasket needs replacing, and I have a little wear line in the middle of my timing belt, so that will be a repair i'll be doing soon. What are some other things to look for on these babies?

And is the 7MGTE an interference engine?

Welcome to supramania. Hopefully you chose blue metallic to paint your car since it is the best color for the MKIII..............:evil2:
