Hiya!

So, interesting problem with my Supra that's got me laughing. First some history:

When I first bought the car, the in dash tail light indicator light was on constantly, but all the tail lights seemed to function properly. In another thread, I was told this was likely because I had water in the tail lights, which has turned out to be the case.

Two bulbs blew last night, which I replaced (I'll be picking up some new seals soon to fix the back tail lights). After replacing the bulbs, the tail light indicator light was off! I figured all was good until I noticed the dimmed tail light running lights in back included the middle tail light (ie- when the headlights were on, the tail light was also on, and slightly dimmed), and there was very little difference in brightness between brake lights and running lights.

This morning, when I started her up to go to work, I hit the brakes, and watched to my amazement as not only the tail light indicator light came on, but the dash lit up and dimmed down as if I had turned on my headlights at the same time!

What on earth would cause something like that? Where should I start looking, and what should I check?

The same thing happened to my Mom's van when the mechanic put in the incorrect wattage brake light bulbs. Double check you got the right ones.

wrong bulbs dude, look at the bottom of the bulb and the bulb holder and you'll see the diffrence between them.

That's the strangest thing I've ever seen. The bulbs I put in were just hanging out in the trunk, so I assumed they were the right kind- I guess not! :biglaugh:

Thanks for the info!

Haha, same thing on my parents van, happened for FIFTEEN minutes on ONE day, haven't been able to get it back. Push on the brakes and the turn's would light up, with varying intensity depending on brake pressure. So weird!

Glad you know what it was ;)
