brake lights stay on

It's that yellow box on the driver side thats hooked up to your tail light.I forgot what it's called but most likey it's that
^^ Yeah,try the brake light switch,may have come loose.Press it in by hand (at top of brake pedal)and see if the lights go out,then go from there.
I just had this problem not to long ago it was the wax plastic pad between the brake light switch and the pedal arm it had broken and fell out, thus leaving the lights on.
Its a pain in the ass to replace. And i searched for about a week looking for somewhere to buy one i ended up buying a used brake pedal from a member here just for the pad.

Had the same problem a loooong time ago and I couldn't seem to get the rubber grommet (on the brake pedal arm above the pedal... At the brake switch). May be available now?
Mine broke and I tried to glue it back on. That did not work, because of the type of rubber. Instead, I found 1 or 2 pennies on my floor (while upside down in the driver's seat) and glued them together, onto the spot where the rubber grommet went. I think I was using Elmer's gue. Worked perfect after that.

Yeaaaaaa he said what the problem was like hours before you posted that....
My quick fix was a peice of r/c car fuel tubing with a screw threw it so it fit in the hole tight and i pushed it all the way in. I didnt drive the car much like that. My sensor was like 2mm away from being pushed in enough to turn them off without the pad so a stick on lead weight (also r/c car stuff) woulda done it too but in the heat of the moment i didnt think of that. :biglaugh:
F! Just noticed my brake lights staying on, as I came back to work from lunch. Couldn't get them to shut off and did not want to look like the "owns an old car-guy with the hood open all the time" in the work parking lot.
I fiddled with the switch for a minute and then unplugged it. Will have to mess with again, before I leave work.
In my case though, the taillight failure sensor/relay light comes one whenever it rains or I wash the car. I washed it yesterday and am hoping it's the grommet and not some BS failure module stuff thatother's have had trouble with.

Are you sure you're not getting water on one of the rear light bulb contacts or a connector in the cargo area?
Turned out to be the grommet. Performed the one-penny-Elmer's-glue-mod. Perfect now.
I am sure that the tail light gaskets are shot and the bulb holders are very brittle. The gaskets are about $30 a set and the bulb holder are about $35 each. I guess I know what I need to put on the X-Mas list ;-)
