Brake lights center panel removal

Quick question. Do i have to remove the brake light assemblies to remove the center panel?

If it's the car in the sig, 3pc. tails, I remember being able to take the middle piece off. Take off the bolts for thr lights, the trims which the middle piece is under at the bottom.


Unscrew the license plate and it should come off.

It's actually for a 87.
I took off the center panel inside the trunk and could only find 2 bolts for the center piece. i've circled them in yellow

I also didn't see anything underneath the license plate.

your missing some that are under the level of the spare tire cover IIRC. i think 3-5 more nuts.

and yea you gotta pull the lights out atleast a little bit theres a small ridge behind them on the center piece.
