I searched around but I couldn't find anything. Basically these brakes have been a PITA since I bought the car w/ bulbs being out and connections being lose ect. I fixed all of them and they were working perfect 2 days ago, now my Brake lights wont work period. They light up when the head lights are up, as far as lighting up initially.. but when you hit the brake still nothing. Signals work fine front and rear( Although I have one burned out which I haven't got around to yet, but this has been there for at least a week ). I tinkered with the wiring to see if I had any lose connections or messed up wires but nothing worked. Brake light on the spoiler not lighting up either. I checked the fuses and they seemed to look fine, even though some I couldn't tell very well. Which fuse is the brake lights and is it separate from the hitting the brake lights?

You know, there are two types of bulbs. And they are "keyed" to go in a certain way. One type of bulb has two filaments, and the other has one.

The fuses are under the dash near the brake pedal. Can't tell you exactly which one, but I usually check each one regardless and reseat each firmly.

I lost my taillights completely over the winter due to the taillight failure box. Whatta feature. It may be part of your problem as well.

signals and reverse lights are 1156, brake lights are 1157...

not sure what bulb the pre 89 turbo spoiler uses, but my girl's Corolla GT-S spoiler (which looks very similar) uses a wedge bulb, size 92, I believe...

Also check your brakelight switch. Your erd brakelight is wired on its own circuit not included with the the taillamp circuit. So if none of them are coming on then it might be traced back to what those cicuits have in common......there controller the bls

I got it... just a fuse. Strange thing is the fuse was NOT blown, at least it didn't appear to be at all. Same thing with my interior lights... both looked flawless. Spent $17.00+ at Walmart on a huge ass Fuse kit which I probably will never use 90% of them, but it's all working. I guess it's good to try fuses anyway.

I come from a land down under
I "ignored" my taillight blown light on the dash as the box had been fullOwater/fish, bought a new one plugged it in and the warning light was still on.... DOH!

Turns out I had a bulb that would work 70% of the time swapped it out and fixed!

I've had fuses like this they didn't look blown but were...

** UPDATE **

I ran into more problems the next day. Same thing, brake lights not lighting up. Tinkered around with everything... found a solder point on the brake light relay box ( or whatever its called ) lose. Soldered it, and bam problem solved. Feels nice having all the little warning lights in the cluster off.
