Brake light problem Please help

Both My Brake lights stopped working at the same time. The weird thing is my 3rd brake light (on the spoiler) still works. Checked fuses under hood, and on drivers kick pannel, all are good. After searching the forums I thought it might me that brake light failure sensor unit failure, but its my understanding that when that unit fails the orange brake light trouble indicator on the dash wont come on. My dash light is on, it comes on as soon as i press the brake pedal.
Hoping someone can give me some place to start looking.

Turns out it was my Tail lamp failure sensor

For those with halfway decent soldering skills who want the box to work without paying $100+ for a new one:

Take the plastic off
Resolder the connections at the plug
Put the plastic back on

It's normally just a couple solder joints that have become brittle and broken over 20 years, causing the connection to be disrupted occasionally.

Did this to mine over a year ago and haven't had a problem since. Cost me nothing since I already own an iron and several spools of various sized solder. :biglaugh:

A quick solder took care of my problem I had the same thing where only the 3rd brake light worked, took literally 2 seconds to resolder the pin and it's been fine since.
