I'm trying to change the front pads and I'm having a problem the caliper isn't sliding on the pin (explains my sqealing as the pads were ok). I was goin to take of the caliper and grease the pin to see if that would help..but the caliper won't come off...is there something securing the caliper at the top..my understanding is its just a pin up there and should slide right off.

umm, take the two bolts off of the caliper bracket (17mm i think) and one bolt @ the bottom of the calipers (14 mm) slide the entire assembly off the rotor but make sure you press in the piston for hte caliper first. Then have one friend hold the bracket and wiggle the caliper off the bracket. THen grease the hell out of the pin. I just did this to two supra's this weekend.

slight prob there as I am the only soul around...OOC whats the difference in having a friend hold the bracket and wiggling the caliper from wiggling it while its mounted to the car...I've tried wiggling it on the car and it don't budge..is it something i could take a "persuader" to? also if its just a pin why is there a bolt head on the end? I tried that before I realized its just a pin. looks like 11 or maybe 12 mm but the socket won't fit in the whole and 10 is to small

it's a pin, but it's replaceable (hence the head)

unbolt the caliper, stick the bracket in a vise and get to the turn and pulling...

I polished the pin with a wire wheel, and cleaned out the part in the caliper as best as I could then regreased it all.

You MUST make sure the dust boots are on right once everything is assembled, as it's what keeps dirt (and more importantly in this case, WATER) out of the slide.

OT I like your screen name. I see DILLIGAF shirts all the time at biker rallys. One of my dad's friends even has it tatooed on his upper arm (big motherfucker).

DILLIGAF = Does It Look Like I Give A Fuck ;).
