hey guys don't post much but I'm really stumped. so I've had my brakes apart for 2 and a half years. engine swap and bay painted. and I'm 95% done with the car except i can't get the brakes to bleed. i got a new caliper on the right rear and I'm getting a soft brake pedal but it doesn't go to floor. so tonight i was going around bleeding the brakes (i did have the battery connected and key in on position). and i can't get any fluid to come out of the right front caliper. back tracking it and i can't get any out the right front port on the abs module. so my question is, is the abs module shot or is it because i had the key on the module is locking up and not letting fluid out???

Do you have pressure going into the abs unit? Does the left front bleed?

There built to stay in the open position incase of failure. And if it blocked off the brakes with key on you wouldn't have brakes while driving.

Also your soft pedal is most likely due to air in the system. You will need to bleed a good amount through to make sure there is no air. Also go a few times around.

Also since they were apart it is likely that there might be blockage. If you have an air compressor you can blow out the lines to make sure.

the rest of the lines bleed no problem. and i did have fluid going to the right front and as i kept bleeding last night because of the low pedal i figured air was probably trapped in abs unit. i know people have had issues with bleeding the brakes. the fluid just stopped coming out of the rf. thats why I'm so confused. I've never had this issue on any car I've worked on.

Or blow it out. IF the system was open things could have crawled in there.

Like i said earlier the abs unit is desinged to stay in the open position. this incase it fails that you will still have breaks. There all designed this way.

So it sounds more like foriegn objects than a failed abs unit.

That's another thought. I work at a shop and I wish I could get it there so I can use all of our fancy tools but I'll try blowing it out tomorrow since it will finally be above freezing. And if not I'll just bypass it

Or the Unit has failed because of foreign object being in there years. ABS systems can be a real pain the bleed and if it's been exposed to the open air for a long time could easily have lots of issues.

They stay in the open position all the time until abs is activated. Meaning it's not in use.

When they fail your abs does not work. Your brakes still work just not abs.

could not get the clog out to save my life. i blew compressed air through it and got nothing out. put some brake parts cleaner in there and let it sit and it still wouldn't unclog. so i made my pass lines leaving the stock lines and fitting intact in case i ever want to try to put a new and unit it.
